About Alexandria
Alexandria extends about 32 km along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea in north-central Egypt and Lake Mariut located on the city’s southern side. It is the second-largest city and largest seaport in Egypt.
It was famous for its lighthouse which is one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. In ancient times, Alexandria was founded c. 331 BC by Alexander the Great. It remained capital of Egypt for nearly a thousand years, until the Muslim conquest of Egypt in AD 64.
Throughout history, Alexandria was famous for many attractions such as the ancient Library of Alexandria, the Lighthouse, which was considered one of the Seven Wonders. Pomey pillar, Roman Amphitheatre and many others.
Climate
Alexandria enjoys a moderate climate all over the year. It’s climate shows Mediterranean characteristics. Rainy winters and moderately hot, sunny summers. During October the Temperature is expected to be around 22° during the conference time.

Traditional Food
Since Alexandria location is along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, it is famous with the Mediterranean seafood taste cuisine and have the best seafood restaurants in the country. All manner of shellfish are widely used in soups, stews, and pastas. Other fish served like swordfish, grouper, eel, sole cuttlefish, shrimp, crab, squid, and octopus.
Some other local and cheaper foods are served like fuul and flafel, these are beans; fuul is boiled with vegetables sometimes mashed with onions, tomatoes and spices while flafel is fuul beans soked and mixed with spices, formed into patties, then deep fried. Kushari also is a classically Egyptian dish. It is a mixture of rice, pasta and pulses served with a sprinkling of crispy fried onion and a dollop of a spicy tomato sauce and then dressed to taste with hot chilli oil and lemon juice. You can also find delicious appetizers available at street vendors lining the coast (Corniche) like Corn on the cob (dorra mashwey) and Loqmat al-Qadi. It is small, round donuts which are crunchy on the outside and soft and syrupy on the inside. They may be served with dusted cinnamon and powdered sugar.
